DoT Unblocks four websites

Recently, Department of Telecommunication(DoT) has blocked 32 websites which were used to propagate terror agenda. The move was highly criticized by the tech community in India. As prominent of them are pastebin, github which were widely used by Information Technology professionals.

Today, DoT has unblocked four websites. Of them, github is prominent. It will ease pressure on the Professionals who depend on the repositories. Others include vimeo,  Dailymotion, gist. These four websites were said to have given an undertaking that the law of the land will be complied with.

DoT has issued a statement that it will consider unblocking other websites if they abide by the law. The online community strongly condemned the move to block 32 urls. But the contention of the DoT was that these websites don't need any authentication to post contents online. These kind of websites are widely used for propagation of terrorist agenda. Yet online community protest for free internet. Any interference by the state will defeat the idea behind the internet. But for a state, national security is far important than a free and neutral internet. Anyhow, the opinions differ.
